Pharmacological action Homatropine
Atropine tool for use in ophthalmology. By blocking the m-cholinergic circular muscle of iris, causing mydriasis (mydriasis). Outflow of fluid from the anterior chamber with a loss, and intraocular pressure rises. Inhibition of m-cholinergic ciliary muscle causes it to relax, resulting in tension tsinnovoy ligament increases, and the curvature of the lens decreases. Paralysis of accommodation, and eyes set on a distant point of vision. Also, may decrease the secretion of tears.
In contrast, atropine methylbromide Homatropine characterized by a rapid onset and shorter duration of pharmacological action.
Statement Homatropine
To conduct ophthalmologic research, including determination of refractive error (especially in young children), a diagnostic study of the retina. Prevention Education synechiae in uveitis and iritis.
Dosage and administration Homatropine
Apply 1-2 drops into the lower conjunctival sac of each eye.
Side effect Homatropine
Perhaps: transient blurred vision.
Contraindications Homatropine
Narrow anterior chamber of the eye, glaucoma (especially closure), hypersensitivity to atropine or Homatropine.
Pregnancy and breast feeding Homatropine
The use of methyl bromide Homatropine during pregnancy and lactation is possible only in case of emergency.
Cautions Homatropine
In case of contact Homatropine methyl bromide through nasolacrimal duct into the nasopharynx or gastrointestinal tract may develop systemic side effects (dry mouth and nose and throat, tachycardia, constipation). To avoid falling into the nasopharynx gomatropin methyl bromide and subsequent absorption should click on the medial corner of the eye for 1 minute during the instillation of drops (especially in children).
Not recommended for use with methyl bromide Homatropine infants aged 1-3 months, because it is assumed that in these patients increases the risk of amblyopia.
Effects on ability to drive and control mechanisms
Within 30 min after application of methyl bromide Homatropine should refrain from activities potentially hazardous activities that require attention.
